Our Journey
From humble beginnings in 2020 to challenging for the league title — every chapter of our story.
Al Riffa Sports Club was founded in Doha, Qatar, with a bold vision: to build a competitive football programme rooted in community, youth development, and Qatari pride. The club enrolled in the Qatar Amateur League for its inaugural season.
The club's first competitive season exceeded expectations. Despite limited preparation time, Al Riffa finished 6th in their debut campaign, demonstrating early signs of a cohesive team spirit and disciplined structure under the inaugural coaching staff.
A significant improvement. Smart recruitment in the summer window brought in experienced local talent. The squad's chemistry was evident as Al Riffa climbed to 4th place, finishing just outside the top three and setting sights firmly on a podium finish.
Al Riffa's finest season to date — at the time. The club secured 3rd place, earning their first podium finish in just their third season of existence. The youth academy began producing first-team regulars, reinforcing the club's long-term development philosophy.
A difficult season marked by a mid-season coaching change and a string of injuries to key players. Despite finishing 5th, the character shown by the squad in the second half of the season gave the board confidence. Major structural changes were made ahead of the following campaign.
A transformative season under new head coach Osama Humaidi. Al Riffa mounted a title challenge throughout the campaign, ultimately finishing as runners-up — the club's best-ever league position. The new playing style won admirers across Qatar.
The current campaign. Al Riffa sit 2nd in the Qatar Stars League with 17 matches played, just 3 points behind leaders Al Sadd. With the squad at full fitness and momentum building, the club is closer than ever to claiming its first league title. The story continues.
